How can I report a dead animal in the roadway to be picked up?
For dead animals in the public right-of-way (streets, sidewalks, etc.) please contact the Street Maintenance Division at 703-737-7073 to request removal. Please provide the nearest cross-street to the location (if applicable) or the closest address. You may also visit the Street Division page to submit your request on-line.
Can I get a refrigerator, freezer or window air conditioning unit picked up with bulk pickups?
These appliances can only be collected if a certified technician has removed the coolant unit and placed a sticker on the unit stating this has been removed. This applies to all appliances that have coolants, regardless of whether or not the unit still works. This is an EPA rule and cannot be waived by the Town. Fridges, freezers and AC units left at the curb without this sticker will not be collected and the property owner/resident will be notified. Please visit our bulk items pickup page for more information and options.
How do I get a new recycle bin?

I live in an apartment complex that doesn't have recycling service - can I still recycle?
Absolutely! The Town has two recycling drop-off centers in Town. These are open to all citizens at no cost. One is located in the Bloom shopping center on South King Street; the other drop-off is located in the Wal-Mart parking lot, closest to the bypass. Please see our website on other recycling opportunities for more information on materials accepted at these locations.
I saw the CSI truck go by this morning but they didn't pick up my yard waste/recycling - why?
CSI uses two separate trucks for recycling and yard waste. You may see them pass by as they do pickups for one material and another truck will be by later to pick up the other. Recycling is taken to the reclamation facility in Sterling, while yard waste is taken to Loudoun Composting.
Can I get free mulch from the Town of Leesburg from the brush collection?
No. The Town does not have a storage location for bulk mulch. In addition, the grinding equipment used for brush collection does a very rough shred. It does not go through the multiple grinding processes like commercially-bagged mulch and would not be suitable for home landscaping. The Loudoun County Landfill has a Free Mulch Depot at the facility on Evergreen Mills Road south of Leesburg.
I see the crews throw all my recycling in the back of the truck together. Does my recycling really get recycled?
Yes! CSI takes all recyclables, including bulky items, to their reclamation facility in Sterling, VA. It is then hand-sorted by material type and processed for resale to manufacturers who use it to make new products. You can visit our "Recycling - Where does it Go?" page to see photos of the process. Also, scout and youth groups interested in touring the facility may contact CSI at 703-444-3181 to inquire about scheduling a tour.
Does the Town have a location where I can take material to be shredded year-round?
Unfortunately, we do not have a permanent facility for this service; however, the Town does host two on-site shred events each year - spring and fall. The events are free to citizens (no businesses) and are usually held at a local high school. Please check the trash and recycling page in early spring and late summer for specific dates and times.
Does the Town have a trash drop-off center where I can take extra trash?
The Town does not have trash drop-off locations; the recycling centers in Town are for recycling only, regular trash and waste should not be left at these containers. The Loudoun County Landfill accepts household waste for a nominal fee. You may contact them at 703-771-5500 for more information and hours.
